Miami Police Chief Miguel Exposito was fired on Monday. The reason for his firing does not appear to involve shootings:

In addition to the Butch Davis firing, UNC has also lost Dick Baddour, who resigned his position as athletic director, but will apparently stay on for the next year to “help with the ongoing NCAA investigation into the football program”.
I’m not sure that this qualifies as a “sports firing”, but Bob Bradley is out as head coach of the U.S. men’s soccer team.
Obit watch: Sherwood Schwartz. I understand he’s going to Heaven, but they’ve scheduled a three-hour tour of Purgatory first…
Kurt Rambis: out as coach of the Timberwolves. Rambis was 32-132 over two seasons.

Anyway, the new ownership of the Detroit Pistons has fired coach John Kuester.
It doesn’t exactly sound like the players were fond of him, either.
Jim Tressel out at Ohio State. The Columbus Dispatch says he resigned, but strongly suggests he was pushed.
Everyone was expecting this in light of Ohio State’s recent troubles, and I get the feeling someone thought it was good timing to do this over a holiday weekend.

Rich Cho out as GM of the Portland Trail Blazers after 10 months on the job.
Rick Adelman is apparently out as head coach of the Houston Rockets.
It isn’t clear if he was pushed or jumped: the HouChron story is still crediting “a person with knowledge of the decision” and says “Adelman and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey failed to reach agreements on how they would continue to work together”, which makes it sound like a “you can’t fire me, I quit” situation. (Edited to add 4/19: the current version of the linked article seems to confirm this.)
(Actually, I have no idea if this is good or bad for the Rockets playoff chances. I just couldn’t resist working in a Kate Bush reference.)

I would argue that he deserves to be fired for that yellow jacket and tie combination alone. In this case, it looks like the issue isn’t his sartorial choices, or his record (145-61 over six seasons) but problems with the NCAA and unauthorized bratwurst.

This does not seem to have been unexpected, with a 13-18 record (5-11 in conference).

Jeff Fisher out as coach of the Tennessee Titans. Well, that was somewhat unexpected. (Nashville Tennessean link.)
It will be interesting to see where, if anywhere, Fisher lands. He seems to have been a highly regarded NFL coach, but why?
