NFL teams that still have a chance to go 0-17:
NY Jets
The worthless Bills lost.
The worthless Chargers lost.
New Orleans won, but they were playing the New York Football Giants, so that wasn’t exactly a titanic achievement.
And Tennessee narrowly defeated the Cardinals.
This leaves the Jets as the last team standing. Their next game is against Denver in London early Sunday morning. Denver is a heavy favorite, but in my opinion there’s never anything certain about London games.
I’ll try to get the loser update up as early as I can on Sunday.
Maybe it is just me having a strange past few weeks. But I am finding it harder to get excited about both the Lions and the Tigers, even though they are both doing much better than they have traditionally done.
Or perhaps it is just with so much going on in the world, I am overwhelmed with concerns for the things that actually matter and can’t be too worried about overpaid athletes, I.E. entertainers, and whether or not they can score more points than the other teams. It is hard to care about that when worries about people losing their right to not just speak their minds, but in many cases to simply exist in the wrong place.
One example I am thinking of is the Jewish man being kicked out of an area in the U.K. that has a large Muslim presence. It seems that he was considered a threat to their sensibilities or some such nonsense. That along with their new digital I.D. requirements, and my thoughts are, coming soon to a nation near you.
Sorry for being so down, I had to put my dog down today also, which puts the topping on the cake for the season. Oh, and just now at 9 pm it started a huge thunderstorm. How appropriate. The one good thing is, I know it will get better. Be well.
“… with so much going on in the world, I am overwhelmed with concerns for the things that actually matter”
I totally get this. Sometimes it feels to me like pro and college sports are just the modern equivalent of bread and circuses, and they are being used as slight of hand: “Pay no attention to the Soros funded NGOs in this hand! Saylor Twift has a new album out!”
But I also think that we can’t concentrate on just the bad and troubling things all the time. Well, we can, but that’s just a good way to drive yourself crazy, raise your blood pressure, and ultimately bring about an early death.
Moderation in all things, including moderation. I’m worried about the UK and Canada, too, but there’s nothing I feel like I can do right now. Though I’m still considering running guns to the Canadian Resistance if I’m ever diagnosed with a terminal illness.
I’m sorry about your dog, pigpen.
Stainles
I am so sorry for venting to you yesterday. I should never have placed my burdens on another, especially one whom I have so much respect for.
That being said, today is a much better day. I forgot to mention that I am on disability at the age of 65, due to chronic debilitating migraine headaches, along with a back that I broke at age 20 that got worse with a lifetime of basically manual labor. And yesterday I had one of the bad ones.
With the government deciding in their official wisdom that they had gotten enough money from big pharma over narcotic drugs, it is almost impossible to get my migraines treated in the only way that I have found actually works, after an entire adult lifetime of searching for new answers.
I have tried all of the latest drugs for both prevention and treatment continually, with no lasting results. So the only thing that has ever really helped me when I get the worst migraines is a very strong narcotic and an antiemetic to stop with nausea and what that carries with it. But I feel physically better now and so emotionally as well.
Again I am sorry for laying my burdens on you. I am actually a very lucky man, and know it.
Pigpen:
You have no need to apologize. I didn’t mind at all. Indeed, you are always welcome to post here, even if it is just venting. I would extend the same privilege to any of my valued commenters here.
