Happy birthday!

This blog turns 17 years old today.

Seventeen years of, as someone once put it, “looking at obituaries and which coaches got fired“.

I’m still not burned out. If the posting frequency has decreased a little, it is partly because of Bluehost issues, partly because my life is a little busy, and partly because there’s just not as much worth blogging about.

But from July 28, 2009 to today is 6,209 days (using the date calculation features in Excel). There are 7,452 published posts. That’s about 1.2 posts per day, every day, including weekends and holidays. I think that’s something I can be mildly proud of.

17? I think the acne has cleared up, voice has changed.
    Let’s get you a car.

Okay, but nothing big or expensive to purchase or expensive to repair. A nice Honda Accord will do just fine.

I note here, for the record, that 17 is the age of consent here in Texas. At least, that’s what Google’s AI tells me, and how can you possibly go wrong relying on Google’s AI for legal advice?

Glad you are here! I haven’t been here for the full 17 years but you are the first place I read in the mornings. Some might think starting off with obits would be depressing, but it rarely is.

P.S. I always read obits and while traveling to Big Bend I pne in the Ozona paper. It contained this classic summary of a woman’s life: She was a beauty operator and a Baptist. Can’t say much better of a Texas woman than that, can you?
