The NYPost is reporting the firing of Sean Hudson as “Director of Community Relations” for the Washington Nationals.
This is actually kind of amusing. Mr. Hudson was apparently fired as fallout from a James O’Keefe video, in which he said “…the team doesn’t use pitcher Trevor Williams in video promotions on social media due to his religious beliefs.”
I don’t have a Twitter account, and I apparently have issues embedding Twitter. So here’s a link from the NYPost article.
“The Dodgers had a group… who were drag queens who sometimes dressed up as nuns. He [Trevor Williams] went on social media like… ‘This is my religion. You all are mocking it.’”
“Because of that, we [Washington Nationals] don’t use him [Trevor Williams] on social [media].”
…
What? Does that make any sense to anyone?
Well, that’s kind of interesting, too.
Derius Swinton II out as “senior special teams assistant” for the Steelers. He was hired about three months ago. “Reports” say the firing was for a violation of team policy.
I think that you might be talking about firings in the Detroit Tigers organization soon. They are pretty much done for the year, as far as reaching the post season. A lot of the blame might be placed on a particularly bad batch of injuries to key players, but that only proves the point.
Upper management has ignored their minor league system for too long, which normally was how Detroit built the MLB team. With injuries to key players, they normally would have had major league ready players in AAA at Toledo. But the GM Harris has not conducted drafts in a way that placed more than just one big name in the pipeline.
In any event it doesn’t matter to me. This year Detroit changed their method of televising their games. It has always been available over Detroit area television networks. This year they made it a pay channel on cable and even though it is only about $20 per month, I refuse to pay for it. I guess I am becoming an old codger.
Pigpen:
I feel bad for you, and the Tigers. I was kind of hoping for a good year for the Tigers.
But, you know, compensatory suckage: maybe if the Tigers have a bad year, the Lions will go to the Superb Owl.
The Tigers got Justin Verlander back this year, and he has been on the disabled list for over a month. Tarik Skubal had surgery to remove a bone chip from his elbow, but was throwing after 2 weeks.
