It was another one of those busy weekends for me.
It was also a busy weekend for sports firings, so getting caught up:
DeShaun Foster out at UCLA. Heh. Heh. Heh. 5-10 in “a little more than one full season”, and 0-3 so far this season. ESPN.
Brent Pry out as head coach of Virginia Tech. 16-24 in “four seasons” and, yes, 0-3 so far this season. ESPN.
I hope that any coach in a Division 1 or 2 college or an NFL team gets a lot of their contract paid upfront. All of those jobs are like, “What have you done for me lately”. I have seen coaches fired after leading their team to championships just 2 years ago, after a start of the season with poor results.
Also just a note to let you know that here in Michigan we are having what they are calling the best weather in the nation, with temps in the mid to upper 80’s and no clouds. That just reminds me that 2 Halloweens ago, we had a huge snowstorm with probably a foot of drifting snow dropped on us overnight.
And one Halloween about 15 years ago, the temperature was in the 80’s.
Since I live close to the big lake, that tends to put a bit of a damper on the weather, with cold not being as bad nor hot not being as bad as the area just 50 miles inland, around the Grand Rapids area. If it is 30 degrees here then it likely will be 18-20 in the GR metro area.
Oh, and I think small game season started today here. Have a great week.
