I have a long gun book/gun post that I’ve been working on for a while, and which is about 85% done. I just need to take some photos and make a final proofreading pass.
I thought things would be less busy after Easter and my birthday. Ha ha ha ha ha. It looks like I’m not going to get much free time to work on that post until Thursday of next week. (Not that I’m complaining that much: Mike the Musicologist and I are planning to go to a fun show this weekend and then eat beef. And Tuesday night I will be assisting the police with their inquiries once again.)
So here’s something to tide you over:
On top, a Model “945M” (I think that’s the model) butane lighter, which was a kind and thoughtful gift from FotB RoadRich.
On the bottom, a GI-Joe scaled M79 grenade launcher, purchased off eBay and inspired by this discussion over at McThag’s place.

I think that most gun nuts are familiar with John Connor and his work. I have the book put out my American Handgunner with many of his articles he wrote for their magazine. It is basically a softcover book of some of the tales of his life and the people with whom he had the opportunity to cross paths with. I highly recommend it and it is available from either the magazine or from Amazon.
I don’t know if I mentioned this, but I picked up my first centerfire revolver on Thursday. It is the Rossi RP63, a 3″ barrel, .357/.38 special double action with 6 shots.
I doubt that I will ever shoot any .357 magnum rounds out of it, but it seems well built. Especially for the price that I got it at, which was $315. There was no tax, but I had to pay $30 for shipping and $30 to my FFL dealer. I usually don’t include that in the cost of the gun but I probably should.
I have not gotten out to shoot it yet, but I plan on doing so when I am able. I have been thinking of picking up a Lee Loader to try my hand at reloading. It will depend on how much money I think that I can save, knowing that I must buy all of the components.
Have a great weekend and enjoy your time out and about.
I’m about two thirds of the way through *Odd Angry Shot* and am enjoying it. I’ve already read *The Guncrank Chronicles* and recommend that as well.
I’m glad to hear about the Rossi. We accept you! One of us! One of us!
Seriously, revolvers are fun!
I actually picked up a Lee Loader in the batch of stuff I ordered from MidwayUSA for my birthday. (Midway does “birthday pricing” the week before and after your birthday, if you give them your birthdate.) Mine is in .45 Colt, and I haven’t had a chance to do anything with it yet. But it is on the shelf waiting for me to crack it open. (Also got .45 Colt brass in the same order, but I don’t have any primers or bullets. I bought a can of H-110 over the weekend, and Hodgdon has .45 Colt data for H-110.)
