“What you gonna do when you get out of jail?…” part 134

Amateurs talk about tactics, but professionals study logistics.

–Gen. Robert H. Barrow, USMC

In that vein, “Of Ships and Butter”, a 1970s (in color!) US Navy film about the Navy’s role in protecting shipping.

Bonus video: “U.S. News Review”, one of those old newsreels. I put it here because Veronica Lake shows up at about the :24 mark. And as far as I am concerned (and I hope the vast majority of my readers will agree with me) I need no justification other than “Veronica Lake”.

  1. Veronica Lake always gets the thumbs-up seal of approval.

On a Saturday afternoon, (a long time ago) I watched “I married a witch”. I got up off of my parents living room floor, and asked my mom ‘who is that woman’. My mom smiled and told me her name. I’ve been in love with Veronica ever since. Sad, her life wasn’t a movie fantasy.

We watched “I Married a Witch” during the Halloween season about two years ago.

    I know what you mean.

This is probably more of my peculiar psychology than anyone wants, but the first place I ever heard about her was the write-up of “Flesh Feast” in the Golden Turkey Awards book. I look at her now, and I want to save her. Even though she’d be 98 now, and she died when I was (mumble mumble) years old.
