10 things you need to know about Trader Joe’s

Yes, that’s correct: the Statesman wants you to pay in order to read what is basically an advertisement for Trader Joe’s.

You don’t have to pay to read their article about Trader Joe’s confirming a North Austin (Arboretum) store, though.

(Does anyone other than myself and Mike the Musicologist remember Krispy Kreme, and how the local news media treated the opening of their first store here like it was the second coming of Christ?)

The Trader Joes near me post those ‘No Guns’ signs.
I don’t shop there often, and choose not to involve them in my life decisions.

Interesting, guffaw. I have never been to a Trader Joes; I will probably check the Austin one out, after the hype subsides, and I will look for “No Guns” signage, 30.06 compliant or not.

We hit a Trader Joe’s on our California road trip a couple of summers ago.

It struck me as a slightly downmarket Whole Foods.

Expect to see people shopping there whose primary motive is to be seen shopping there.
