Academic update: Fall 2011, part 2.

This is a little early, since the final grade hasn’t been put into the main university system yet. (Edited to add 12/13: it is there now.) But I’ve been in touch with my “20th Century: Triumph and Tragedy” professor by email, and she’s confirmed the grades posted in the university’s BlackBoard system.

And…?

(Hattip: Image stolen borrowed from Logical Awesome, who I have nothing to do with. Also, yes, I hate Star Trek, but there’s something…awesome, if you will, about that image of Spock as DJ.)

The final verdict is 97.11 100.11 out of a possible 97 100 points. So, yeah, that’s an A. (If 97 points seems odd, it is because the professor dropped one assignment that was worth three points, due to problems with people completing it. Long story. Edited to add: the story just gets longer and more boring, so to keep it short, the professor adjusted the grades, and the changes above reflect her revisions.)

Interestingly, the cutoff for undergraduate honors for students graduating this spring (at least as listed in the program) according to the university website, is this semester.

Also interestingly, the cutoff for summa cum laude, according to the university website, is a 3.90 GPA. I have a 4.0: this caused me some concern, but I checked with a trusted advisor. Apparently, graduating summa cum laude does not mean that I have to get into the ring with a large Japanese gentleman and bump bellies in order to get my degree. This is a good thing. (I still think I could get through at least two falls out of three without disgracing myself, as long as they didn’t put me up against someone like Musashimaru.)

(“a hula-hoop instructor”?)

So now I just have a few hoops to jump through: one in-major class that I’m taking as an independent study course (because it isn’t offered this semester), the final (“Capstone”) project course, and I also have to pass the computer competency exams. (Apparently, having written Java and VB code as part of my classes in the “Computer Systems Management” major is insufficient proof that I actually have computer competency.)

What the heck, let’s have a little music to celebrate.

Yes, I am the king of the divan.
